It all started with our flagship Dog Back Pack - the Scout Pack! We all know that any adventurer's primary gear collection has to include a well-fitting, hard-wearing and good-looking adventure pack. The same goes for our adventure hounds.

Launched in 2021, South Hound was born from the many hours Kerry and her collieX, Scout, spent exploring the mountains around Cape Town, South Africa.
Kerry wanted gear for Scout to make adventuring easier. She wanted gear that was locally made, with a classic adventure aesthetic, that would survive the trails. When she couldn't find what she was looking for, she started looking for a manufacturing partner to make it happen.
After a few wrong turns (but, really, is any adventure a proper adventure without some wrong turns and challenging side-tracks), she connected with an amazing team making human adventure gear in Cape Town and South Hound became a reality.
